6. Rapunzel by Happy Backwards

A kinetic novel reimagining of the classic fairytale Rapunzel. See through the eyes of the girl in the tower, the prince who finds her and the witch who had stolen her away as the story unfolds, very close to the original versions, but unique unto itself.

The menu and art was very fitting for the vn."

  2. "-Nice group jingle. :D
-Lovely music. I really like how the instruments are suited to the kind of fantasy tale.
-I liked how the story was very traditionally Rapunzel, but with distinctive differences that set it apart from the original fairy tale. The dialogue between Altair and Rapunzel is so cute too! ^^
-I really like how you changed the game menus to look like a storybook! This made the game come together, and I'm glad you changed like this instead of leaving it as the default. :)
-Maybe it's just me, but I kind of wish there were CG cutscenes in the game. I think they would have made the emotional scenes (e.g. the end scene where Altair's vision returns) more powerful.
-Overall, great job and great game!"

  3. "-A beautiful rendition of a famous short story. Pacing was good, the writing was fairly well done, and everything flowed well.

-I must stand up and applaud the creativity shown in developing an interface that wasn't Renpy default. It was well done, matched the general color scheme of the piece, and assisted in the story telling. The menus were well done and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the main menu screen had changed after completing the game.

-The sprite and interface art was solid and appealing quality. However, it didn't match most of the backgrounds, which was a bit of a shame. Photoshopped photographs were a bit of a let down compared to the rest of the quality. However, most of them were acceptable for the piece and did not detract anything significant from the work. One thing I was a bit disappointed about was the lack of CG at the very end.

-If there is one part of the work that stands above and beyond, it is the music. Not only were they good, quality pieces, but they were used efficiently. Timing was never an issue and they blended together perfectly. It's an element I often see neglected in visual novels, so I must tip my hat to this work. The sound effects were also spot on and were the perfect icing on the cake.

Overall, a beautiful rendition of Rapunzel. Definitely worth playing at least once."
